The client for this project was a private dental hospital. They wanted to have an artificially intelligent bot to handle the appointment requests from their patients. The patients could book appointments from Facebook, Whatsapp, SMS text or a phone call. We used Amazon Lex and AWS Connect to create a bot to handle communications from all of the 4 mediums. The bot had to be intelligent enough to take into account the working hours, weekends and already booked time slots. The bot also responded to requests where people wanted to modify their appointments or cancel them.
